My Life Is Complete

Performance, bean bag used at Dia Chelsea, dolly cart, karaoke rendition of “Shape of You”

2026

This was a performance that took place at the Durational Pedagogies Fellowship culminating presentation at Dia Chelsea on June 13, 2026.

I placed myself inside one of the bean bags used in the space. Steve, who worked in Dia’s facilities, kindly wheeled me into the spotlight, where I then delivered a monologue as a bean bag. I talk about how living in fear in my past life killed me and now, having reincarnated into a bean bag, am trying to embrace my new life as this soft, pathetic object. I end off by singing karaoke to Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, jumping off the cart, and exiting the stage.
